About Rent at Bucks County Playhouse

The composer was inspired to write ' the musical Rent ' after many of his peers were impacted by the AIDS crisis. Featuring a role with the disease, the musical was one of the first musicals to address the health crisis openly; interestingly, the character of Angel, a drag performer and street drummer, is one of the first characters who are openly HIV-positive in the musical theater scene.
