About DCI: Drum Corps International in Oxnard
DCI has partnered with local educational institutions to promote musical training among youth. Providing opportunities for alumni, DCI invites former performers to stay involved through gatherings and volunteer opportunities. The Madison Scouts, founded in 1938, are known for their strong male identity and have won the DCI World Championship on four occasions. Notably, the 2011 DCI World Championships' theme, titled The Music of the Night, featured acts centered around Broadway and stage performances. Offering a variety of participation choices, DCI offers opportunities for performers ages 14-22 to participate in ensembles; in fact, the first DCI winner was the Cavaliers drum corps, who took home the accolade in 1972 with their performance The Finley Avenue Blues.
