About John Achkar in Nepean
John Achkar has created his detailed paintings of Beirut's urban landscapes created between 2011 and 2013. In 2010, he was asked to exhibit at the Venice Biennale, one of the most prestigious international art events, representing Lebanon. Notably, in 2020, he initiated an online workshop series to teach art techniques to displaced Syrian youth in the country. ; in fact, his 2016 work 'Crossroads ' was influenced by the political upheavals in Lebanon during that year.
