Unknown Mortal Orchestra are known for their album Hanoi which was inspired by Ruban Nielson's time in Southeast Asia and unveiled in two thousand twenty. Hosting a fan art competition, they celebrated the talent within their audience. Ruban Nielson's father, Chris Nielson, is a jazz artist, which has influenced Ruban's approach to creating and performing. Remarkably, UMO's song ' From The Sun ' from their second album is known for its catchy melody and thoughtful verses. Incorporating more electronic elements into their sound in 2019 Unknown Mortal Orchestra's style became more eclectic and complex; interestingly, Unknown Mortal Orchestra (UMO) was created in 2010 by Ruban Nielson, a Kiwi musician after he shifted to Oregon's Portland.
