About Dreamgirls at 710 Main Theatre
This musical features music that incorporates elements of R&B music, soul music, and dance music. Presenting the song Listen, specifically written for the film, the song was delivered by the artist Beyoncé and became a chart-topping song. The film version of this cinematic version starred Knowles as the character Deena Jones, actor Jamie Foxx as the character Curtis, and Murphy as Thunder. Furthermore, the show's choreography, choreographed by the renowned Michael Bennett, helped shape the style and atmosphere of Broadway performances in the early '80s. Marking its 30th anniversary in 2011, Dreamgirls held an unique show showcasing the original cast; curiously, the character of Effie White was modeled on the real singer the artist Florence Ballard of the legendary Supremes.
