About The Diary of Anne Frank at Center Stage At Herberger Theater Center
The Diary of Anne Frank includes Anne’s thoughts on her sense of self as a young Jewish female. Sharing her feelings on romance and companionship, Frank wrote about her crush for Peter van Pels, who was also in hiding. The diary was initially released in 1947 under the name Het Achterhuis (The Secret Annex) in Dutch. In fact, Anne and Margot were later moved to the Bergen-Belsen camp, where both siblings died of illness in March 1945. Influencing numerous interpretations, the young girl's story has been represented in cinematic adaptations, plays and musicals; remarkably, Anne Frank's theme of optimism continues to motivate upcoming generations to advocate for social justice.
