About Cats - The Musical at Conexus Arts Centre
Cats was originally conceived as a family-oriented performance but evolved into a complex and rich production. Emphasizing the character of the sophisticated cat, the well-fed cat symbolizes allure and refinement. In 1999, Cats commemorated its 18, 000th performance globally, marking a major landmark in the world of musicals. Importantly, the original cast included acclaimed performers such as Sarah Brightman, who later became a well-known solo artist. Obtaining varied responses upon release, the film adaptation was notable for its use of CGI fur technology; interestingly, the production features 21 different cats, each with individual traits and narratives, drawn from Eliot's works.
