About UTEP Miners vs New Mexico State Aggies
UTEP Miners is the first team in collegiate football history to wear the iconic Miners name, symbolizing the region's mining background. Through their 1988-1989 basketball season, the Miners finished with a 27-8 record and reached the round of 16. After its establishment, the UTEP football program began competing in the early 20th century, making it one of the oldest programs in the state of Texas. In 2020, the Miners faced difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic, disrupting their season schedule. In 2021, the coaching staff prioritized leadership development amongst players. Through their extensive athletic program, UTEP competes in diverse sports, including soccer, indoor volleyball, and track and field.
