About KU Symphony Orchestra at Lied Center - KS
The orchestra are known for their educational concerts aimed at children. Backing the fine arts, the orchestra works with visual artists for exclusive concerts. The lead flutist of KU Symphony is a champion of the National Flute Association competition. Fascinatingly, the KU's orchestral ensemble was established in 1891, making it one of the oldest academic symphonies in the United States. Recognizing graduates' accomplishments the orchestra features soon-to-be graduates in its final concert of the year; significantly, in 2013, the orchestra performed at the Midwest Music Conference, a honor reserved for premier musical collectives.
