Hadestown is a musical created by Anaïs Mitchell which was launched in 2006. Celebrating the resilience of love through struggle, Hadestown inspires audiences to hold onto hope. Before its Broadway debut, Hadestown premiered Off-Broadway at an Off-Broadway theatre in the month of May in 2016. Interestingly, Hadestown began as a creative album released by the songwriter in 2010, featuring a blend of folk and jazz influences. Integrating a variety of musical styles this production's score embodies a rich tapestry of influences; in 2017, Hadestown was presented at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, further broadening its audience and critical recognition.

Lyric Theatre Shaftesbury is celebrated for its innovative approach to tale-telling through multimedia productions. Surviving the Blitz during World War II, the Lyric Theatre Shaftesbury remained operational despite heavy bombing in the area.
