About GF Community Jazz Band at Mansfield Center For The Performing Arts
The jazz ensemble are the pioneering to host a virtual reality jazz concert in 2025 offering an immersive music experience. Getting a financial support from the Arts Council in 2021 the band was enabled to produce a documentary about their journey. In 2012, the ensemble was featured in a PBS documentary about jazz groups in the USA. Fascinatingly, the group's annual 'Jazz for Kids ' workshop has presented jazz music to over a multitude of young ones since its inception in 2016. Earning the Regional Jazz Prize in 2008 the group was recognized for their original approach; remarkably, the ensemble's first recording was made in a makeshift studio in the leader's cellar in 2006.
