About Sweeney Todd at Meadowvale Theatre
The persona of Sweeney Todd has been represented in numerous renditions as both a relatable and a monstrous figure. Introducing a notable movie version, Burton helmed Sweeney Todd released in 2007 in December. The orchestral work for the musical was done by Tunick, who composed the music for a large orchestra. With a script by Wheeler, the stage version of the barber story won eight prestigious Tony Awards including Outstanding Musical; curiously, the story is set in 19th century London and explores themes of class struggle and vengeance.
