About Top Hat at Merry-Go-Round Playhouse
Top Hat was filmed in just over a month, a remarkably short timeframe for a musical film of its scale. Featuring a narrative that is compelling from start to finish. Top Hat's costumes were so detailed that they took an extended period to design and construct. In fact, the 'Top Hat ' film score includes the famous song ' Cheek to Cheek the song ', which was awarded the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1936. Including a level of skill that is rare in modern film; remarkably, the 'Top Hat ' white tie and tails attire became a standard for elegant dress in ballet shows.
Merry-Go-Round Playhouse
Merry-Go-Round Playhouse is recognized for its utilization of technology to enhance the spectator's enjoyment such as digital programs. The 2001 season saw the Playhouse produce its inaugural self-written show titled Lakeside Stories which was written by a local playwright. Operating a scene shop the organization crafts elaborate sets on-site. Unreserved Seating at the Roundabout Stage allows for flexible seating setups. Fixed Seating at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse ensures a steady configuration for every performance. The Merry-Go-Round Playhouse is accessible via the city's blue bus line, station twelve. An old railway line, now a walking trail, leads directly to the roundabout stage.
