About MJ - The Musical at Neil Simon Theatre
The show was initially set to open in 2020 but was rescheduled due to the global health crisis. Incorporating cutting-edge technology, the show features impressive audio-visual effects to create an engaging atmosphere. He kicked off his music career at the young age of six years old as a member of the Jackson Five, alongside his siblings, which formed in 1964. In early 1980s, he won the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for his song What’s Love Got to Do with It. Helmed by Christopher Wheeldon, the production combines choreography and dramatic narrative to honor Jackson's legacy; in '94, he was awarded the Grammy Legend Award for his contributions to the world of music.
Neil Simon Theatre
The theater has a large stage that allows for elaborate set designs and shows. Showcasing Lost in Yonkers in 1991, the theatre presented a Simon play that won the Pulitzer for Drama. The Neil Simon Playhouse is equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lighting setups to support modern productions. Staging the production of The Sunshine Boys in the early 1970s, the theatre featured one of Simon’s most acclaimed plays. The playhouse's seating configuration allows for a variety of viewing angles. The orchestra level often generates a wave of applause that reverberates throughout the auditorium. If you're near the Al Hirschfeld, it’s just a block east to Neil Simon Theatre.
