The original Off-Broadway production starred actress Barrett Wilbert Weed as Veronica and McCartan as Jason 'J. D. ' Dean. The musical is recognized for its representation of the nuances of teenage relationships; notably, ' The Heathers Musical ' made its international launch at an Off-Broadway venue at the New World Stages on March 31, 2014.
