The cowboy competition was called after the Ski-Hi Ranch, which was a prominent landmark in the area. In 1984, the competition was featured in a national advertising campaign, In 2016, a film about the event won awards, highlighting its cultural impact. The rodeo are a highlight of the professional rodeo circuit, known for their high level of competition and sportsmanship. The rodeo has been held every year since its beginning except during World War II when resources were diverted.
Ski-Hi Stampede at Ski Hi Park
The sports complex is where the 'Highest Number of Strikeouts in a Match' by a single pitcher was achieved. The park's yearly motor sled event was called off in 2006 due to insufficient snowfall.
