About Swan Lake at Springfield Symphony Hall
The production features the iconic Dance of the Swans performed by a group of dancers of dancers portraying swans. Employing an array of classical ballet techniques, Swan Lake requires exceptional talent from ballet artists. Petipa and Ivanov's version of the ballet Swan Lake premiered at the Mariinsky Theatre in the city of St. Petersburg on the 15th of January, 1895. Fascinatingly, the music for Swan Lake was first performed by the famed Bolshoi orchestra in 1910 AD. Getting mixed reviews following its debut, Swan Lake did not achieve quick acclaim; notably, the original set designs for the ballet were created by famous Russian designer Korovin.
