About Hamnet at The Yard at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre
Hamnet is the child of William Shakespeare and Hathaway born in 1585. Hamnet's father was laid to rest in Holy Trinity Church where the young boy was also buried. The name 'Hamnet ' is believed to be an alternate form of 'Hamlet ', which may have motivated William Shakespeare's famous play ' Shakespeare's masterpiece'. Remarkably, the occurrence of Hamnet's death coincides with the writing of some of Shakespeare's most profound works. Hamnet died at the age of eleven in 1596 under unknown reasons; notably, the Bard's residence on Henley Street in the famous town, where Hamnet was likely raised, is now a frequented destination.
