Receiving critical acclaim, Revelations remains to be showcased regularly and is celebrated for its profound impact. Ailey's choreography often included elements of African heritage and Caribbean movement, reflecting his intent to honor the origins of Black cultural heritage. Remarkably, Ailey’s Cry, created in 1971, was a tribute to his mother and is a deep exploration of the experiences of African Americans. Collaborating with visual artists the organization has incorporated multimedia elements into its shows; in fact, Ailey’s The Blues Suite was one of his initial works, showcasing his love for jazz and its relationship to movement.
